Where should you stay?

Muri vs Titikaveka

Two of Rarotonga's most attractive lagoon areas — but they suit different styles of holiday.

Choose Muri if convenience matters most

Muri has the strongest concentration of lagoon cruises, visitor activities, dining and accommodation in one compact area. It suits first-time visitors who like being able to decide what to do next without driving across the island for every meal or activity.

Choose Titikaveka if the beach matters more

Titikaveka has a quieter feel and a stronger beach-and-snorkelling identity. It suits couples and travellers who want boutique or self-contained accommodation and are happy to travel a short distance for a wider dining or activity choice.

The practical compromise

They are close enough that choosing one does not lock you out of the other. For many travellers the decision is simply: do you want more activity around the doorstep, or more quiet around the doorstep?

Muri

More dining, lagoon tours, culture and convenience.

Titikaveka

Quieter beach feel, snorkelling and boutique stays.

Our first-trip pick

For a first visit without a hire car, Muri is usually the simpler base. For a repeat trip, couples trip or beach-led holiday, Titikaveka becomes very compelling. That is an editorial recommendation, not a Tourism ranking.
